Thursday January 9th
Bring bring bring went the alarm. A somewhat dreaded sound at the moment. I showered and had a quick bite to eat before we headed out in the pouring rain to the waiting bus. Orientation 2 was not quite as extreme as yesterdays event. We were back at The Commons- same location as yesterday. We were checked by staff to see if we met the Disney look. Some boys were told they needed to cut their hair before tomorrow. Quite a few girls were told they needed to dye their hair over night. Some people who had naturally higlighted hair from the sun were told to dye their hair as well, but they were putting up a fuss against that. And fair enough.
Our meeting was all about filling in our paper work for immigration. They took us through it line by line. We were also talked to about the cultural requirements we need to meet while here. We need to report once a month on the aspects of our time here which are making the most of
embracing the american culture. Going to McDonalds is acceptable- but you can only use that for one months requirement.
The immigration special agent also talked to us about not breaking the law and then having to fly home.

After the meeting I headed into the front office at The Commons to buy a padlock for $3. VW had sold out yesterday and told me to get one from one of the other complexes. They wouldn't accept my $20 note so I had to borrow $2 from Anne.
Back on the bus and back to VW.
I had been struggling to keep my eyes open during the meeting so decided I would have a quick nap. I slept for about 3 hours, and then got up to hear where some of the flatties had been allocated their roles. My meeting was at 3.30pm. I headed back to the same place where I had been welcomed on Day 1 and went through a series of paperwork checks, where I also found out I will be working on attractions in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. Woohoo! Right behind that magical castle. I can't believe I got positioned here. I cannot wait to start training and be able to share in the fun which I know can be had at Disney! I won't find out what ride I will be on until a later date. I thought I would find out on Sunday which was supposed to be my first day of training. But as you will soon read, my plans have changed.
Stacey got placed on Attractions at Disney Quest in DD, Melissa is a character attendant so isn't sure where she will be yet, Emily is on merchandise in Tomorrow-land at MK, and Anne is on merchandise at Epcot.

I headed back to the apartment and loaded up the pics from Tuesdays blog which I hadn't been able to do at the time of posting. Anne and I waited for everyone to get back with the news of their placements, and once they were back Anne, Emily and I got ready to head to Walmart for a few more essentials. Kate seems to think I am in love this with shop as I have now been there twice- but as it is the main shopping location we can reach on the work bus routes, I don't have much other choice.
When we got to the VW bus stop I saw that I had 3 missed calls and a text from Melissa. I called her and she said, I'm sorry to be ther bearer of bad news, but Vanessa just called from immigration and you can't go to traditions tomorrow. I said, are you joking? But no, she wasn't. I called Vanessa back once off the bus and it turns our my drug test results from yesterday haven't come back yet, and without them I am not yet able to proceed with the programme. I have to wait back at the apartment tomorrow while everyone else goes off and gets their name badges, ID cards, to meet Mickey Mouse, and hear all the Disney traditions. This also means that the day which I had scheduled off on Saturday (when I was going to go to the parks with Lizzy, Emma, and Amber) will no longer be free as I will either be at Traditions then, or will not have the ID which will give me the entry to the park.
I was really annoyed to start with, but now I think- I get a much needed sleep in in the morning, and also everything happens for a reason. It is all part of the adventure.
At Walmart I got myself a zip up jumper/jacket to wear on cold nights (!), a pair of skin coloured stockings as I had been told black stockings would not be ok for Traditions in the morning (where we have to wear professional attire), a few microwave meals, and some wedges to cook for dinner.

By the time we got back our final housemate had arrived. Her name is also Melissa! She is 22 and from Australia. NZ Melissa and I are now permanently outnumbered!
I cooked my wedges in the oven. Flash oven compared to all our other appliances. We got a toaster today too. Yay yay yay. I also had a cup of tea on the stove top kettle before heading to bed.

Dreams: Well my mind keeps me working all night at the moment. Dad and I were shopping for a new car. He had decided my starlet was not sufficient and we were searching for a new white station wagon. Whist out test driving one we stopped by to see Kate. She had entered herself and Gretel in a dog talent show. I was super impressed at all the tricks Kate had Gretel doing. They were absolutely fantastic. I look forward to seeing these tricks when I get home Kate!
